Metalcore Madness: Currents and Friends Tear Up the Stage at 013 Poppodium!

The night was charged with anticipation as metalheads from all corners of the city descended upon 013 Poppodium, eager to witness an unforgettable lineup of bands.

Among them was me, Evren Yuceturk, ready to immerse myself in the electrifying atmosphere and raw energy of the evening's performances.

As I stepped into the venue, the air crackled with excitement, and the stage was set for an epic night of metal music.

The energy was palpable as the first band, Sentinels, took the stage. Hailing from Connecticut, Sentinels delivered a relentless onslaught of progressive metalcore that left the crowd in awe. With their intricate guitar work, thunderous drumming, and fierce vocals, they set the tone for the night ahead, kicking things off with a bang.

Next up was Ocean Ate Alaska, a metalcore band from Birmingham, England. Their performance was a whirlwind of technical precision and ferocious intensity, with blistering riffs, lightning-fast drumming, and soaring vocals. Each song was a masterclass in musical virtuosity, showcasing the band's incredible skill and creativity.

Hailing from Alpine, California, Being as an Ocean brought a unique blend of melodic hardcore and spoken word poetry to the stage. With their new vocalist at the helm, the band delivered a set that was both powerful and deeply emotional. From the haunting melodies of "Dissolve" to the cathartic intensity of "This Loneliness Won't Be the Death of Me," every song was delivered with raw intensity and heartfelt sincerity.

But it was Currents who truly brought the house down with their electrifying performance. As the headliners of the night, Currents delivered a set that was nothing short of breathtaking. Hailing from Connecticut, Currents unleashed a relentless barrage of crushing riffs, bone-crushing breakdowns, and soaring melodies that left the crowd in awe.

Their razor-sharp precision and blistering energy were matched only by their unwavering passion and commitment to their craft. Currents' set was a masterclass in sonic storytelling. Their lyrics, infused with emotion and honesty, spoke to the struggles and triumphs of the human experience. Themes of resilience, self-discovery, and the power of perseverance reverberated through every word, striking a chord with the crowd on a profound level.

As the final notes faded into the night, and the echoes of applause filled the air, it was clear that this was more than just a concert. It was a shared experience, a moment of catharsis and connection in a world that often feels chaotic and disconnected. As I made my way out of the venue, heart pounding and ears ringing, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the opportunity to be part of something truly special.

Next stop! Melkweg/Amsterdam Polaris and Silent Planet...
